Expérience fantastique: I’ve seen Dr. Danielle McKinney for the past two weeks for chiropractic care to help with neck, shoulder, and back pain from a recent accident. After my sessions, I noticed significantly better mobility and relief. Booking appointments online is quick and easy, the clinic is clean and has a very calm, welcoming atmosphere, and the front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. Dr. McKinney is knowledgeable, professional, and makes you feel comfortable throughout the treatment. I’m really grateful for the improvement I’ve already experienced and would highly recommend this clinic.

He took his time to assess me, come to a conclusion about my condition and then treat me. I came in with 10/10 pain and after just a a few visits I left with 0 pain! Everyone needs a Dr. Grayden in their life so I highly recommend him!!

Expérience fantastique: I highly recommend Physiotherapist Mahboobeh Khosravi . She helped me recover from my right shoulder/arm injury through various methods including dry needling which I particularly liked. She gave me stretching and strengthening techniques which were very helpful.

Expérience fantastique: I started having plantar fasciitis and problems walking ever since I started wearing some slip on flat shoes with little support that were too big. I finally say my physiotherapist (Mahboobeh) and the combination of treating the plantar fasciitis, doing stretching exercises, and wearing the right shoes that are comfortable and have the right support (with orthotics bought on Amazon) has helped me heal from my plantar fasciitis and walk properly again without pain. Mahboobeh is also helping me adress other issues such as sore knees, tight calves, and lower back pain. I feel confident that Mahboobeh can help me get back to feeling good again so I can enjoy life and be active and mobile with comfort. I

Expérience fantastique: I’ve been visiting this place for my RMT sessions for a while now, and I often choose Nandan Kumar because of his exceptional attentiveness and care. He really understands my specific needs and adjusts everything, from the table and pillows to the massage techniques, to suit my condition. I also appreciate how mindful he is about my hair, making sure the massage oil doesn’t get on it. On top of that, he’s always friendly and makes me feel comfortable. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for a great massage experience.

Expérience positive: I’ve thought about it for months whether to leave this review or not. I’ve seen Dr. Peyman Kademi there for chiropractic work, a lovely acupuncturist whose name I’ve momentarily forgotten, and a physio called Mariam who were all excellent. This review concerns the physiotherapist called Mahboobeh. I left the appointment with her frustrated and disappointed. She inaccurately diagnosed me with arthritis even after I told her I’ve had extensive tests and arthritis has been ruled out. To be honest- this isn’t her fault. I have been struggling with a serious health condition for a number of years that very few practitioners in the medical community are yet aware of. She was working with the training she has, and that’s not her fault. Nevertheless, I went to her for help working around this condition and to eventually improve it, and she was unable to help me, in fact telling me that because of the (nonexistent) arthritis I shouldn’t do any exercises, and instead prescribed a series of stretches I had already been doing for several months. I have a pretty good sense of what my body needs and this confirmed it. When I tried to explain about my medical condition her eyes glazed over, she was dismissive, and she even cut me off. This is not the fault of her training, this is poor work as a health practitioner and lacks compassion. She told me that the arthritis was my fault because I haven’t worked my muscles. When I tried to explain that I have in fact been doing weight training but the results are limited because of my condition she cut me off and said “it’s clear to me from your muscles that you haven’t”. Honestly, it felt like she was Fat Shaming me. And this, most certainly is a fault of the practitioner not the training, and why I’ve eventually resolved to leave this review. In the end I continued to do the stretches I had already been doing, shortly after switched my home workouts for rejoining the gym, and have continued to recover dramatically over the last few months without her help. Conclusion: if you are a healthy, strong person who needs fine tuning or injury recovery she can probably help you. But I certainly wouldn’t recommend going to her for help if you are working your way up from the bottom of a health concern, or feeling vulnerable in any way. ⭐️⭐️

Expérience fantastique: Had a great first time acupuncture, cupping and massage treatment with Shawn (Sungwoon) Tjen. So thankful to be pain free after my session and will definitely be booking in for more sessions as needed in the future.

Expérience négative: In March of 2021 I had a skiing accident. I could not walk properly and wanted to go to a Physio ASAP to determine if it was a sprain, partial or full tear type of situation. My regular Physio’s were unavailable, so I checked Backs in Action since they were close to my office. They had availability and I booked. This was a mistake, and a terrible experience. The physio pushed my leg to the point of pain, well beyond necessary. And when I walked to demonstrate the issue, he said “just walk normally, you’re ok”. No… I was not ok. I swore never returned to Backs in Action… But in May 2025 I was looking for a new acupuncturist. He was good… until he told me he was going to leave. ☹ This is the only reason it's 2 stars and not 1. I did not post this review in 2021 as I thought it must have been a one-off experience. I recently re-visited and had a not-so-great experience again with a different practitioner. That one will get its own review & write-up soon.

Expérience négative: I rarely write bad reviews but I had a very negative experience. I came in for support with a rolled ankle and was told I likely have rheumatoid arthritis based on information that does not make sense or connect with the facts of arthritis. This was concerning and ultimately a distressing departure from what I came in for treatment for.

He truly takes the time to listen to my concerns and uses his deep knowledge of muscles and body mechanics to guide his treatment. He is thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely invested in understanding how the body works and how to help it heal. I’m grateful to have found such a skilled and caring acupuncturist.

Expérience fantastique: I've been doing Active Rehab with Rachel Cheung every week to help with my upper and lower back pain due my car accident a few months ago, and so far my recovery has been great! :) Rachel is very professional and knowledgeable. She comes up with a specific exercise plan to target areas where I feel pain and modifies the exercise plans according to my progress in recovery. She also noticed that I had poor posture likely from me sitting for long periods of time because I spend a lot of time studying for school and gave me some exercises and stretches to do. After a few weeks, I had already noticed an improvement in my posture as I wasn't as hunched over when standing. This also helped with my upper back pain. Prior to active rehab, I thought that I would be able to search up some exercises on YouTube and recover on my own, but I realized that it is much more effective to go in for active rehab because the exercises are more catered to your specific needs. Rachel is very passionate about her job as I can tell that she genuinely cares about my health and wants me to feel better. She is really friendly as well so I always feel comfortable asking her questions. I always have a great time during my sessions because we have engaging conversations, such as talking about our love for cats! If you are a student or working a job that requires long periods of time on the computer, and are experiencing some physical discomfort, I highly recommend active rehab. Once you learn the exercises, you'll have knowledge about which exercises help you and you'll be able to do them throughout your life. I am also doing RMT with Amir and Jackson in conjunction with active rehab, and these sessions in combination definitely sped up my recovery. All the staff here are very friendly and the system is convenient, allowing you to reschedule appointments online, and notifying you if there are any cancelled/open appointments available. Also, this clinic is very clean and sanitary. Ever since COVID-19, all the staff wear masks and the equipment gets sanitized frequently.

What I appreciated the most was that he didn’t engage in unnecessary chit-chat; only checking in occasionally to make sure the pressure was right. It made the whole experience incredibly relaxing. Expérience négative: I have received treatment, such as physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic care, and acupuncture, from this clinic since last year. I booked several physiotherapy appointments under WCB work injury using my insurance, which previously communicated that once I get approval from my WCB case, they can re-invoice the payment from my insurance to WCB as well as my credit card. Prior to this, I booked chiropractic care, acupuncture, and physiotherapy using my insurance. The administrator said that they had to change my appointment from an hour to thirty minutes. She also said that they cannot reverse the payment from my credit card & insurance. I told her you should have informed me earlier about this, or it should be on your website. I even said that I would manage my booking later at home, but unfortunately, she ignored it and changed it. The impact of these negative treatments from the administrator, who communicated with the physiotherapist Andrew, left unclear communication and poor customer service practices at the Back in Action Rehab and Wellness. Negligence transparency focuses on healthcare practices and payment policies on patient satisfaction and trust, particularly on insurance and WCB work injury claims. The implications of appointment modifications highlight my consumer rights in medical settings.

Expérience négative: I have been a loyal client of Back in Action for over five years and have always been a huge fan of their services. Due to my profession, I’ve frequently referred clients, friends, and family to them for injury claims. However, in the past year, the service, particularly at the front desk, has declined significantly. Sam was always fantastic, knowledgeable, helpful, and reliable whenever I had questions about pricing or extended healthcare coverage. Unfortunately, the current front desk staff are unprofessional, rude, and completely unhelpful. Worse, I was overcharged and had to point out the discrepancy twice before it was corrected. Despite fully paying for my last session, I returned today only to be told I still had an outstanding balance, an error on their part that is beyond frustrating. This is exactly why I prefer to have pricing confirmed upfront before proceeding with any treatment. However, was told that is not an option, even thought it was always an option given to me. Given these ongoing issues, I can no longer recommend Back in Action and will not be returning. The decline in service is truly disappointing.

Expérience fantastique: Maryam is a great physiotherapist. She is always caring and very nice. She varies her treatments to help me with my back injury. She also provides additional exercises and they work great!

Expérience négative: I booked online and filled out an intake form indicating this is an ICBC claim. They made a mistake claiming my extended health and charged me the uncovered portion. I emailed them back shortly and explained this should be an ICBC claim. Then someone called me the next day and said that the insurance claim has already been processed and they can only treat this as a normal appointment. Then, she suggested that they can start the ICBC claim the next appointment. Who doesn't know that? The whole conversations didn't even apologize what they have done wrong. The one who called said that she will have a manager to call me the next day to see what they can do. But never did. I understand that they cannot reverse the insurance company's claim. However, there are many other ways to make your customer happy. I am not here to teach how. It's not a big amount but it's the way they handled this situation. Will not go back at all. I book this place just because of the availabilities of appointments within a week of booking. This tells why other places are so busy but not this place.

I definitely feel that the treatment I have received by. Andrew has been effective and I definitely notice improvement. I highly recommend this physiotherapist if you are in need of physiotherapy treatment. Overall, I am very impressed with the level of service I have received from this clinic. All of the administration staff are super friendly and competent .

I just need to confirm it is not worse than last time. However, Dr. Mariam Ashraf provide very great care. She is very patient and encouraging. I was so surprised that my back pain was relieved in 10 minute's treatment. I thought the pain will haunt me down for days. I have booked a follow up with her. Great experience if the receptionist can be nicer.

He went through several exercises that would help to relieve my back pain. I found the appointment very helpful and I look forward to making progress in relieving my pain. Expérience fantastique: I found Denise to be very professional in my treatment. Denise has a complete understanding of my needs and limitations. Denise is terrific at explaining all the exercises and what they entail. Denise has also made sure I follow up with my GP ....during treatment.

Expérience fantastique: I twisted my ankle and also may have plantar fasciitis. Alexander was very thorough in his consultation and provided exercises that I could do at home. These exercises have helped with reducing the pain/strengthening my weak foot. He is friendly, detail-oriented, patient, and an active-listener. Throughout the assessment, he would check-in to make sure any adjustments weren’t overly painful. I’d recommend his Physio expertise if you need support!

Expérience fantastique: My wife, Lori recently had an assessment for shoulder pain and treatment with Alex B. She was very concerned about the appointment but felt very comfortable with Alex, whose approach was kind, compassionate and respectful. He was open to our concerns, answered her questions and clarified as needed. The important part for me was he spoke directly to her, as Lori is in a wheelchair most times we are in appointments the clinician will direct their questions to me not her. I have had to redirect them to ask her, as well as stop myself from answering.

Expérience fantastique: After getting rear ended last year at a high rate of speed, I was victim to a very painful neck injury causing headaches and lack of strength and mobility. I have had treatments with several of the physiotherapists, massage therapists, acupuncturists and chiropractors that practice at Backs in Action. Over the course of a few months, the practitioners got me back to my normal, pre-accident self. I can attest to the professional and cordial atmosphere they provide, everyone in the building has been phenomenal in their demeanor. I can recommend no better clinic than Backs in Action. Expérience fantastique: I’ve had a winged scapula for 20 years and would tear my rotator cuff just cleaning the tub- aka quite often. Regular massage and physio has helped me heal and get me comfortable again but I’ve never returned to 100%. My Chiropractor here, Dr. McKinney is the first paramedical service provider to actually improve my shoulder. I’ve been seeing her for not even a year and I’m so much stronger and haven’t torn my RC since. I even painted my whole apartment which surely would have killed me before. She really takes the time to treat me and teach me preventive things. Not a miracle, just science and someone who cares. 2023 update, still the greatest!

Expérience fantastique: I‘ve been with Backs in Action for over 6years now, I’ve had services from Acupuncture to Physio to Massage to Kinesiologist. Many practitioners have come and go for my treatment. Two practitioners have been more than amazing due to their consistency, deep technical knowledge, and professionalism. I started going to Shawn (Acupuncture and cupping) 3 years now for my chronic back pain and his expertise and professionalism with no other acupuncturist can match his quality of treatment. He doesn’t only treat what you ask to try to simmer down your complaint, but rather, always trying to find the root cause of your pain. I don’t think I have met that quality in any discipline. Together with his deep knowledge of Acupuncture from generations of practice in his family, he is someone I trust 100% with my physical related issues. Because of his way of thinking, being a regular with Shawn really helped me understand the progression of my symptoms and reach out to the best team to eradicate the chronic pain. It’s still on going process but I am confidence as things are still changing for the better. One thing my friends around me always asks is if it’s painful to get these treatments done. I always tell them “ if you feel sharp pain on the skin, that means they have miss the spot. But if you feel soreness and/or a bit of discomfort, then you know they hit the proper points to stimulate the flow.” That’s for acupuncture. Cupping doesn’t hurt at all What’s so ever. If you feel sharp pain, they might be missing a spot. So, sincerely, Thank you Shawn. If you’re looking for someone reliable for your chronic pain, Shawn is strongly recommended. Another practitioner I am still with after 4 years is Rachel (kinesiologist), she’s taken on many different roles in her career makes her one of the most well rounded knowledgeable kinesiologist. She’s easy to talk to and great to work with. She’s always wa looking for different ways to work with you.

Expérience fantastique: Jackson is knowleadgable if you're looking for a RMT. During the treatment, we agreed to focuzed on the back. After being treated, my upper body is much more relaxed and I can feel the differences between uppper and lower body.

Expérience fantastique: Jackson is an exceptional massage therapist. His attentive treatment not only released my muscle tension, but also it improved my range of motion. I have been to other RMT, but none of them is nearly as great as Jackson! Very looking forward to the next treatment.

Expérience négative: I had a massage session with Nandan Kumar and when I first gotten into the room. The sheets on the bed were not clean. Also I had the worst massage of my life. I walked out of there with more pain than when I walked in. He put so much pressure and massage me too hard that I was all bruised up. I kept saying to put less pressure and not as strong but his massage remains strong the entire 45 mins. The full 45 minutes I was in pain and couldn't wait until massage is over. I've been to this clinic many time and seen other massage therapists before and never had a problem. This was a really bad experience for me. It's been Day 3 and I am still in pain. My son gave me a hug and when he touched my back it hurts. Even if I touch it, it hurts. I've been taking Tylenol, Advil and icing it. Hopefully this pain goes soon.

Expérience positive: Shawn (Acupuncturist) has been very helpful with my facial pain, and back related injuries from over 2 years ago. Not only he's knowledgeable, makes me feel calm, he's also genuinely interested in helping his clients be painfree. Wish would've have found him sooner. I have also tried Denise Wong for Pelvic pain physiotherapy and though I haven't had a chance to have more sessions, I would definitely come back in the future. Very patient and knowledgeable.

She's a great therapist, very skilled, friendly and competent. She is nice, understands and assess my pain, and treatment I need. Looking forward to my recovery. Denise is brilliant with my physio treatments and is super knowledgeable. Jonathan and Joseph are both amazing chiropractors and I get instant relief, highly recommend. Myles and Candice both make me melt with my RMT sessions with them. I also recommend Shawn for acupuncture, his treatment lowkey makes feel high after and blissful.

Expérience fantastique: I went to Backs in Action for three years; I only left because I moved away. Every practitioner I saw went above and beyond to ensure my wellbeing and recovery and the reception staff were always friendly and helpful with appointments and dealing with ICBC claims. I saw Dr. Lucas for chiro. I always left sessions with him feeling like a new human. Beyond his adjustments, he always provided valuable insights to help with my recovery. He always asked questions and really maximized the short amount of time in sessions to target my biggest challenges. Half the time, we'd get to chatting so much I wouldn't even clue in he was adjusting my back or neck! I saw Yasaman for acupuncture. The thought of needles and cupping might seem intimidating at first, but she makes the sessions as painless and comfortable as possible. She provided really beneficial treatments I wouldn't think existed beforehand, like moving cupping and electro-accupuncture. Again, these may seem intimidating, but were very valuable passive treatments. I saw Andrew for physiotherapy. I appreciate his use of both passive and active modalities. His excercise routines always challenged me and helped target my problem areas. Beyond that, he made every moment of his sessions fun and I always felt comfortable. He's clearly passionate about his work; ask him about IMS! I saw Rachel for kin / active rehab. Rachel cares for her clients' recovery and will go the extra mile to advocate for them with ICBC adjusters. Rachel will challenge her clients and help them heal and get in good shape. She helped identify and treat problems that I wouldn't think to work on otherwise. I saw multiple RMTs throughout the years and had to shift a couple times due to scheduling conflicts. I initially saw Amir. Amir will also advocate for his patients and really cares about his patients' comfort and treatment. I also saw Jackson. He was very informative with my care and would always explain what he was doing. Last, I saw Myles. Myles was great to chat with and did an excellent job of identifying and treating problems I didn't recognize I had. He also provided stretches I could do at home, accordingly. Expérience fantastique: RMT - Three years ago I was an avid gym goer, I practiced Callisthenics, crossfit, plyometric training and Olympic lifting. I also have a background in gymnastics. I had great posture, and I was strong. It wasn't until one day i injured my knee and that , mixed with a desk job, i developed misalignment. I went to physio and chiro which alleviated the pain but only for a short while. Not until i started back with AMIR in RMT did i start feeling significant change. I am now back at the gym (simple routine), little knee pain, no back pain and my mobility is constantly improving. Im even breathing and sleeping better (if you know, you know). I still have a ways to go in my recovery journey but if youre looking for muscle, joint and pain help, look no further, AMIR will change your life for the better.

I had sworn off IMS a long time ago because all of my past experiences with it were awful, caused anxiety attacks & left me in pain for days. I thought that was normal, blamed my fear of needles, and figured it wasn’t the treatment for me. After hitting a wall in my recovery journey for my neck injury, I decided to give IMS another shot at Backs In Action, and I’m so glad I did. I had no idea IMS could be so easy, calm, and comfortable. Alex is incredible at what he does. He took it slow, checked in a lot, and worked in such a way that caused minimal discomfort & hardly any soreness. I am seeing so much improvement from my IMS treatments, and it’s seems to be helping increase the effectiveness of all my other treatments at Backs In Action. Thanks so much Alex!

Expérience fantastique: First visit with Dr Yung and it went really! He's very knowledgeable, listened and worked on painful or tense areas for quite a while using active release, like deep tissue massage, in my shoulders and in my arms suffering with tendonitis. I really appreciate the time he took to roll out those areas and explain what is going on with my various issues. ! Friendly, thoughrough, Would definitely recommend!
