She's held my hand when I lacked the courage at times, to move forward. She is very educated as a physiotherapist and astute enough to think outside of the box, especially when recovery has always not been linear for me. I highly recommend her! Expérience fantastique: There are a lot of physiotherapy clinics in Newcastle and I've been to most of them. I think this is the best one. The staff are professional, helpful and very kind. Christina has not only helped me with my arthritis, she's given me a lot of tips on exercises I can do at home. I've also taken my special needs brother to several of the Newcastle clinics and Newcastle Village is the one that treats him with respect and kindness. I would recommend Newcastle Village Physiotherapy to anyone who needs a physiotherapist.

He is not a plug and play physiotherapist that plugs you into a machine and deals with multiple clients at the same time. During my scheduled time, I have his full attention. Jeff is very pro making sure that he gives me tools to speed up my healing instead of relying on him to move on with my healing. Jeff is great at explaining everything that he is doing.

Expérience fantastique: I would recommend pelvic floor physio to any and all pregnant women! For my first pregnancy I didn’t do any physio and had a hard time with labour and recovery. For my second pregnancy I did physio before and after birth and it made the world of a difference! I got many tips on how to manoeuvre with the pregnant belly in a safe and effective manner. I felt way more prepared for labour. My recovery was slow and steady and I felt in control the entire time. I was incredibly happy to know that I didn’t have to suffer with side effects from being pregnant, I was able to get my body back in shape in a safe and effective manner.

Expérience fantastique: When I first met Ana, my pelvic floor PT, I was 8- 10 weeks into my pregnancy. I reached out to her practice initially with what I thought was sciatic nerve pain, and because I wanted to be as prepared as possible for my inevitable labour and delivery. Through Ana’s initial consult we discovered that what I was actually experiencing was SI joint pain exacerbated by asymmetries in my pelvis, and a tight pelvic floor. She provided me with a comprehensive assessment, and several exercises to help address the problem. I felt immediate relief within the first few weeks. I continued to see Ana every few weeks to prepare my body for labour. As a first time mom I couldn’t help but be a bit afraid of labour. Everywhere I looked I was given horror stories of how difficult and traumatic labour would be. I was told that an unmedicated birth was a goal I would toss out the window as soon as labour began. That I would need weeks to recover from all the stitches and trauma of labour. Despite this, I knew there had to be a better way. I was curious about what pelvic floor Physiotherapy could do to help me prepare for delivery to reduce pain, improve birth outcomes, and promote a faster and easier recovery. Let me just say, pelvic floor PT did not disappoint. I learned breathing techniques to strengthen my T.V.A. Muscles to prepare for labour, strategies to relax my pelvic floor, positions to support a healthy/easier labour and delivery, and safe/effective exercises to keep my body in shape for baby, as well as labour and delivery. I was supported with positivity, encouragement and confidence that I could have the labour and delivery that I desired. For any woman reading this who dreams of a better labour than what they’ve been told, I’m going to share my story so that you know it’s possible. It’s important to note that everyone’s ideal will be different, some may wish to have a medicated labour that’s as pain free as possible, while others may wish to explore alternative pain management techniques. While we all know that labour doesn’t always go as planned or as expected, we can accept that, but also prepare for the ideal labour, which IS possible. Having a positive mindset will help you no matter what kind of labour you’re faced with. I went into preparation for labour with the hope that I would have an unmedicated “easy” birth, but I was open to pain medication as needed. I discussed various strategies with my midwife team, and asked them to encourage me as much as possible to aim for my ideal, but if they felt it was best for the baby to do something different then to let me know. It is so important to know what you want, but to also address this with your medical team! After a short labour (6 hours) I delivered a healthy baby boy was born, at a large 8lbs 3oz. He was noted to be in the 85th percentile for head size. I was able to avoid tearing (only a very small internal tear that did not require stitches), and walked away from birth with very little injury. I am a small framed woman, with pre-pregnancy weight of 117lbs, at 5 foot 5, but managed to get through labour unmedicated and empowered. I am now continuing to work with Ana to re-connect with my pelvic floor, as my muscles feel weaker and harder to recognize. I was also experiencing some urgency urinary incontinence after labour. Ana has given me some fantastic strategies to repair my core and pelvic floor to recover from the stretching of pregnancy, and I truly thank her for setting me up for such a great labour, delivery and recovery. I am looking forward to continuing my journey with pelvic floor PT, and will continue to recommend that every woman consider seeing Ana for at least a few sessions before and after labour and delivery. I cannot recommend her enough!
