Expérience négative: I would absolutely NOT recommend Back in Action and specifically Dr Scott Christie. 1. The initial session was a bizarre set of balancing exercises that took up 90% of the session. 2. After session 1 and 2 he said he would email me with follow up exercises. I have yet to receive any emails from Dr Christie (including zero response to an email I sent him). 3. After disclosing my significant abdominal surgeries, he thought it was a good idea to use his hands in some sort of manual therapy that left me in a great deal of pain for 2 weeks after treatment. I went to see Dr Christie since the Back in Action website talks about preventing pickleball injuries. I paid a lot of money for 2 sessions and walked away with no follow up and in a great deal of pain. I hope others do not have to go through what I went through.

Upon further review of your time with us, you reported a sacroiliac (SI) joint injury previously diagnosed by another healthcare provider, which you believed to be related to increased pickleball activity. While we acknowledge this prior diagnosis, it is important for us to conduct our own clinical assessment and analysis.
While you described the assessment with Dr. Scott as “bizarre,” it’s important to recognize that you were seeking longer-term relief and prevention, which often requires a more comprehensive and less conventional approach than surface-level care.
Many practitioners may focus primarily on short-term symptom management. However, the goals you outlined require a deeper evaluation of how your body moves particularly in a sport like pickleball that involves rotational forces, rapid changes in direction, and single-leg loading.
This is why your initial session emphasized balance, movement control, and stability testing. These are evidence-based methods used to identify underlying contributors to SI joint dysfunction rather than simply addressing pain in isolation.
An additional key factor in your case was your history of multiple abdominal surgeries. From a clinical perspective, this is highly relevant. Surgical history can influence core muscle function, tissue mobility, and how forces are transferred through the pelvis, all of which directly impact SI joint loading and stability.
As a result, your care required not only an understanding of pickleball biomechanics, but also how your surgical history may be contributing to your symptoms. This is why a more detailed and individualized assessment approach was necessary.
Dr. Scott is a highly experienced practitioner who works with individuals ranging from recreational athletes to professional athletes, Olympians, and world champions. His approach reflects advanced sports medicine principles, with a focus on long-term outcomes, movement quality, and injury prevention. We are proud to have his expertise at Back in Action.
That said, strong clinical care must be matched with clear communication and follow-through. In this case, we acknowledge that we fell short in our communication process, and for that we sincerely apologize.

After acquiring a concussion a month before a big hiking trip I was very concerned about recovering in time to complete my trip. Thi-ut helped adjust my expectations of recovery, helped me understand what to prioritize as I prepared for the trip, and ultimately I feel my concussion has healed as fast as it can because of the work we did! The administration is also very well run at the clinic making the appointments smooth from start to finish.

Expérience fantastique: I hurt my back December 23, 2022 and have been in pain since. I finally made it to this clinic for my first visit. The two young ladies at the front desk were professional, warm and welcoming. I was referred to Ms. Thi-Ut Nguyen for review and first session. Ms. Nguyen is professional and extremely knowledgeable. She assessed the issues and immediately began to treat me and after approximately 45 minutes i was able to stand straight and without pain for the first time since December 23. There are insufficient words in any language to describe how wonderful Ms. Nguyen is, how she was able to alleviate a level of pain and discomfort to the point i can function. There are more sessions that will be required to completely repair the problem and i look forward to being treated again by Thi-Ut. I strongly recommend her and the Back in Action Health Clinic to anyone in need of therapy.

Expérience fantastique: Thi-Ut changed my whole life. I have been wearing an AFO brace for about 10 years. I was told I had drop foot by a neurologist. After speaking with Thi-Ut, she realized it was my toe that had a problem not my whole foot. She used tape to hold my toes together. I don't need to use a brace anymore. This is life changing for me!

Expérience fantastique: Lauren and her team work together to support each other's efforts to help their clients heal. They are aligned in their philosophy about being practical and teaching you what you need to know to care for yourself. But what I found most surprising is Lauren's creativity in finding solutions that are suitable to the individual. And I what I appreciated the most is that, as a team, they are focused on getting you 'back in action' on your terms and with your best interests in mind. I would like to add a few comments about the specific practitioners that I have seen at the clinic, in addition to Lauren. Thi-Ut Nguyen (Physiotherapist) truly cares about your progress. She is mindful of the patient's personal response to different treatments and knows how to navigate different options to generate the best response in a specific individual. Her optimism and friendliness make physiotherapy a really comfortable process. She's very encouraging about all you can do to help yourself with self care. Deborah Mechanic (Chiropractor) has unique skills as a chiropractor, as she's also a yoga instructor. She is able to provide really valuable tips about modifying exercises to accommodate injuries and other limitations. She is extremely patient centred and goes above and beyond with responsiveness. To assist in my learning, she made videos of the stretches and modifications she recommended for me! Jennifer Harvey (Physiotherapist) makes the most of her time with her patients. She is really skilled at juggling different treatments and recommending exercises and stretches to do on your own, to promote healing. Her high energy enthusiasm is very encouraging to do the work necessary to get back in action!

Expérience fantastique: Amazing place! Found this facility through Vox Neuro for a cognitive health assessment as I’ve had several concussions and am dealing with brain fogginess. After the cognitive health assessment, they took the time to review the results with me in-depth and really listen to the symptoms I’m still experiencing. We came up with a plan together to start seeing Thi-Ut to help with some physical therapy sessions. Thi did an amazing job explaining how all parts of our bodies are connected, and educating me on what I can do to start feeling better. After about 1 month of visits I felt like I was able to make small tweaks to my lifestyle through her advice that really help led with my symptoms. Can’t say enough great things about this place. Would highly recommend to anyone dealing with post concussion symptoms even if they’re slight. You’ll be amazed at the help they’ll offer you!

Expérience fantastique: I’ve been going to Back in Action for a couple of years because my neck gets stiff due to age related spinal degradation. Lauren regularly treats me and I feel like the tin man getting his squeaky neck oiled up. It’s such a relief when I finish an appointment with her. I’m now stuck at home during the Covid19 isolation (it’s about 6 weeks now). My neck is really locked up and it’s becoming very clear to me the great work that Lauren does.

Expérience fantastique: Doctor Lauren is awesome, not sure where the negative review came from. The office is extremely organized, the staff is always curtious and respectful. In my four years of coming to this clinic I have never experienced any problems with scheduling and they have always been accommodating when I have needed to change appointments or reschedule.

Expérience fantastique: Consider yourself lucky if you start attending this clinic. Having been to numerous chiropractors and physiotherapists, I can tell you that this place is special. Dr Scott is a chiropractor who has more knowledge than any MD I've ever met. The knowledge and techniques he uses far surpass those in this field. Unlike most chiros who usher you in and out in five minutes, he spends a great deal of time with you. Being his patient is a blessing. I can't say enough great things!

Expérience fantastique: Dr. Lauren is the best chiropractor that I have ever been to and I have seen several before. She truly cares about her patients and treating them to feel better. She is very friendly and I feel very comfortable around her. Many times if she has extra time, she goes above the allotted time and gives extra treatment at no cost. She explains in detail what she is doing and gives recommendations on how to self-treat in between appointments. Everyone at the office is very friendly and overall it is a very warm and comfortable atmosphere. I am always able to book appointments and work around my busy schedule. Dr. Lauren works to accommodate her patients schedule which I really appreciate. I am so happy to have found Dr. Lauren, I have recommended her to friends and family, and encourage others to go and see her.
